United States of America: Campaign Manager - #Showyourselfie Campaign

The Global Poverty Project and United Nations Population Fund's new global campaign, #Showyourselfie, is growing fast internationally. As such, we are looking for a talented, driven and passionate Campaign Manager to elevate the campaign to scale across 2015. The position is a consultancy for a period of ten months.

About #Showyourselfie:

Showyourselfie, a campaign by the United Nations Population Fund and Global Poverty Project, is a visual petition to ensure that the rights and needs of adolescents and youth (age 10 - 24) are strongly included in the Post-2015 Development Agenda.

The campaign is mobilizing young people around the world to submit their selfie as a personal signature and demonstrate visible support for youth. #Showyourselfie will present the largest ever visual handover to Member States at the UN General Assembly in September 2015 and call for bigger and better investment in young people's rights and needs at the national and global level.

Responsibilities

The Campaign Manager for #Showyourselfie will be responsible for driving a global partnership, marketing and social media driven campaign to ensure that the rights and needs of adolescents and youth are at the center of the Post-2015 development agenda. The campaign, launched in August 2014, on International Youth Day, aims to develop the largest ever visual petition to hand over to world leaders at the UN General Assembly in September 2015. The visual petition aims to ensure that governments will adequately invest in the rights and needs of young people. The Campaign Manager will be responsible for driving all elements of the campaign including high-level partner engagement, strategic activation, marketing and media.

This is a full-time 10-month position starting in January 2015 and ending in October 2015. The role will be based at the UNFPA headquarters in New York City, with 2 days being spent at the Global Poverty Project headquarters.

Responsibilities include:

Additionally, the Campaign Manager will oversee:

Campaign websiteRelationships with media, digital and creative partnersBranding and design of campaigning materialsIssue campaign development on 6 key issuesDesignProductionRoll-outTimelinesSocial media – oversight and managementHigh-level support, event and creative management for photo handover at United Nations General Assembly in September 2015

The Campaign Manager will work with the Global Poverty Project team, a full time Campaign Associate for day-to-day activities and a team of five at UNFPA to provide guidance as related to engagement of UNFPA offices globally.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

5-7 years of relevant campaigning experienceStrong leadership and project management skills and experienceProven success in delivering a high-profile global cause-driven campaign across multiple platformsExperience and familiarity with current international development issuesSignificant past experience in relationship and coalition buildingUnderstanding of grassroots & high-level global campaigningExcellent written and verbal communication skillsOrganisational skills and a strong attention to detailProfessional and able to interact successfully and manage range of individualsComfortable defending ideas and thinking on your feetUnderstanding of international development & policy landscape, including UN politicsCreative thinking & entrepreneurial attitudeKnowledge of international media landscape (national and international)Solution-driven and ability to proactively spot and solve issues.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Friendly, flexible, confident and assertive personalitySense of humor
