The Rock Springs Field Office manages over 3.6 million acres of public land surface and 3.5 million acres of public subsurface minerals in the southwestern part of Wyoming. The Field Office administers a variety of programs including mineral exploration and development, wildlife habitat, outdoor recreation, wild horses, livestock grazing, and historic trails. You will perform a variety of administrative functions including but not limited to: serve as receptionist, conduct visitor management, initiate travel authorizations and vouchers, operate office equipment, serve as cashier, maintain invoices and records, accounts for all money, money orders and checks collected by the office, establish and maintain records and files in a variety of lands and renewable resources programs.

In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement – please be sure to document your experience in your resume. For GS-05: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level OR have 4 years of education above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the prerequisite, OR have an equivalent combination of experience and education described above. Specialized experience would include using a PC to process a wide range of documents, such as graphics, tables; update & revise databases or spreadsheets; working in Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.; recognize discrepancies & correct or question originators in such matters as improper formatting & missing information. Selective Placement Factor: This position requires a special qualification that has been determined to be essential to perform the duties and will be used as a screen out element. Applicants must type a minimum of 40 words per minute. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement.


This position requires a qualified typist, able to type a minimum of 40 words per minute. You must have at least one (1) year of specialized work experience;or equivalent education; or a combination of experience and education.


HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

Your rating will be based on your responses to the Job Specific Questionnaire and the information stated in your resume. If you meet the qualification requirements, you application will be placed in one of three categories: Best Qualified, Well Qualified, or Qualified. Within these categories, applicants eligible for veteran’s preference will receive selection priority over non-veterans. In addition, interviews may be conducted for this position. The interviews may be conducted on a pass/fail basis or may be scored. The job specific questions relate to the following knowledge, skills and abilities required to do the work of this position.
