Position Summary:
Surgical Services: To coordinate pre-admission testing, OR times, and beds with planned requests for hospital services. Staff is primarily assigned to inpatient or ambulatory coordination of scheduling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages incoming calls, greets patients/families/other customers, takes messages as necessary.
- Relays knowledge of service provided by departmental area to patients and/or their family.
- Sorts and distributes the department’s incoming mail on the date received. In no less than 10 days prior to scheduled dates, reviews patient letters for accuracy of dates and programs and assures outgoing mail is ready for the Mailroom to affix postage and mail.
- Recognizes and communicates any problems or issues related to scheduling practices which may affect hospital or department operations to the supervisor or director.
- Answers telephone or assures calls are forwarded to answering machine or alternate phone numbers.
- Calls back and follows up on messages on the date received.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in business, social sciences, human resources, or equivalent preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant healthcare experience preferred.
- Strong analytical, computer, organizational, customer service and communication skills.
