The Strategy Unit is responsible for actively supporting the planning and execution of those initiatives by the relevant organizational owners, including governance support, portfolio management and project management. The Strategy Unit also provides problem-solving support to the organization, by supporting particular initiatives or removing barriers that emerge during implementation.
Job Overview/Summary:
This position leads the Strategy Unit Project Management Office (PMO), with responsibility for project and portfolio management of the strategic initiatives, and for supporting strong governance and internal communications on the strategy. This is a challenging position which requires both tactical and strategic planning experience, strong drive to execution and results, dynamic interpersonal and influencing skills, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional, distributed, multicultural teams. The role reports to the VP Strategy and Innovation and oversees project managers and coordinators on the team.
· Oversee the coordination of internal strategy communications across several channels.
· Direct the portfolio management delivery by the PMO team, including pipeline management and definition, risk and dependency tracking, consolidated planning, cumulative organization impact assessment, and overall coherence and prioritization.
· Direct the project management delivery by the PMO team, including ongoing rigorous planning and progress tracking, scope clarification, proactive risks and issues management, effective communications and status updates, and budget management.
· Ensure that Initiative Owners and teams are supported effectively by PMO project managers, facilitate collaboration between initiative teams, and keep them up to date as needed.
· Provide hands-on support and assurance to initiatives at key milestones to ensure plans are viable.
· Provide advice to initiative teams on their project management approach, provide simple and effective templates and guidelines, and build project management skills across the organization.
· Develop and manage a high-performing PMO team.
· Provide support to senior stakeholders as needed, as new challenges emerge and priorities shift
Job Requirements:
· Bachelor"s degree or equivalent with at least 10 years of progressive experience as a project manager, program manager or portfolio manager
· Experience in establishing or managing a Project Management Office, or equivalent structure
· Strong leadership and motivation skills, with at least 6 years of experience in managing direct reports
· Repeated experience in establishing and facilitating governance structures, at the most senior organizational levels
· Repeated experience in executing strategic change and organizational change management
· Repeated experience in project managing large-scale, cross-functional projects and project portfolios
· Experience in implementing or adapting project methodologies, templates, tools and processes
· Excellent analytical skills, creative problem-solving skills, and ability to anticipate barriers and opportunities
· Capability to manage multiple demands and to adapt to new challenges and shifting priorities
· Excellent writing, presentation and meeting facilitation skills · Strong skills in managing and reporting budgets
· High level of proficiency with MS Office, documents management solutions and project management tools
Preferred Additional Requirements
· Experience with Box document management, Salesforce Chatter, Trello and WebEx
· Knowledge of French or Arabic
· Project Management certification
