Job Description:
- Architect, define and lead implementation of Switch SDK next generation API for a leading edge class of datacenter switch devices
- Identify suitable network management elements and their mapping to the HW functionality
- Provide technical leadership to the development team and personally contribute to the implementation of the proposed technology for a new switch design
- Work closely with the SW Arch team to engineer and to maximize the use of tools for “auto coding”
- Design, develop, test and support software for Silicon and system simulation
- Design, develop, test and support software for distributed configuration of interconnected systems
- Work with Software, Hardware, Architecture and Design teams to define requirements and architecture for future generations of switch systems
- Interact with customers and AE team to help identify and architect solutions
- Demonstrate high level of breadth and depth of technical contributions, personal innovation and the ability to influence and to set technical direction for cross-functional teams across the Network Switch organization
- This is a technical leadership position, with limited or none direct reports reporting into this role
Job Requirements:
- Typically requires an advanced degree and national or international recognition for level of technical expertise through published work and patents; requires recommendation and support from the senior engineering community and approval by the Technical Ladder Committee for entry.
- Demonstrable accomplishments in defining and driving SW innovation at high level of complexity, demonstrable achievements of getting at least 2 innovative products to market
- Exposure to embedded/device driver/Networking Protocol Software Design and Development is required
- Working knowledge in TCP/IP Protocols, L2, L3, switching/routing protocols. Passion for computer networking. Knowledge of MPLS and Tunneling VPNs is a plus
- OS: Embedded Linux/vxWorks and/or other RTOS development experience
- Must possess very strong coding/debug experience in C
- Knowledge of software configuration management concepts and tools
- Hands-on experience with device drivers and/or diagnostics and understanding of hardware devices
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Perl, TCL. Familiarity with off-the-shelf tools that could simplify modeling, rapid code development and validation
- Understanding of system primitives such as timers, DMA, interrupts, cache configuration and device registration
- Ability to apply an innovative approach to troubleshoot and solve complex problems. Strong logical and creative problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be a flexible, motivated self-starter who can ramp up with new technologies quickly
- Excellent work ethic, dependable, and responsible
