United States of America: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – CARE ENTERPRISES, INC

Organization: CARE USA

Country: United States of America

Closing date: 28 Aug 2015

Within CARE we have funded and nurtured a number of successful pilot programs that have demonstrated some initial success and now need evaluation and added expertise to determine if an opportunity exists to scale or replicate these entities. We also believe there are many such programs also outside the CARE portfolio that can be re-created in our CARE countries. We believe a separate entity CARE Enterprise, Inc. (CEI), with a separate management team and skills is needed to fulfill this mission. The first fund will provide start-up funding for the team ($30M) and provide initial investment money for selected programs. Initial focus will be on those enterprises that have either stabilized family income effecting significant social and impact value (i.e., raised participants out of poverty), or those that have the opportunity to create significant numbers of jobs. Our 10 year goal is to raise 1 million people out of poverty permanently, both through income enhancement and new job creation.

We are currently seeking a dynamic inspirational leader who has a passion for working with economically challenged populations and has the potential to create significant economic impact to sustainably raise the individuals out of poverty.

Key performance outcomes expected of the Executive Director include:

· Develop a fundraising campaign to secure a $30M fund. Fundraising is a critical priority.

· Articulate and create a successful culture and infrastructure for CARE Enterprise. This should include:

· The development of methodologies for deal generation, evaluation, governance, and management.

· Systems, process and structure for CEI

· An objective and tool to assess a successful initial portfolio for CEI fund and fund performance reporting system for current and potential investors

· Maintain a strong sense of teamwork and foster a positive working environment. Empower staff while ensuring individual goals are aligned and staff is held accountable for their performance.

· Develop strong relationship with Foundations, NGO’s, Social Enterprise and Impact Investment funders, Governments, and Corporations, as the leader in identifying and investing in its target market. That is; they will possess and create networks to raise money, join with us to influence others, and give us access to expertise at the highest levels.

· The candidate will also serve as the primary liaison between CEI and CARE

· Develop collaborative relationships with the CEI board of directors to utilize expertise and networks

Ideal candidates will demonstrate the following experiences, skills, and personal attributes:

· Ability to create a plan and execute that plan, with demonstrated business planning, business management, and key metric development and tracking skills)

· Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, effective in individual, small or large group settings. Known for being able to tell a compelling story.

· Ability to "Do Deals". Someone with a history of initiating and of closing agreements with other parties where significant dollars and/or other value have been exchanged to both parties satisfaction. This will give us confidence that the candidate can raise money from corporations, Institutions and individuals. We want someone who has successfully asked for/raised money, and likes doing it.

· Ability to assess the value of an opportunity as measured by impact, dollars or other metrics helping CEI achieve its" mission.

· Outstanding leadership and management skills, including the ability to assess management teams (including CEI’s) and local board of directors, and add value to a management team. This includes demonstrated collaboration skills to deal with key relations like CARE USA, CARE International, Country Offices, local boards, other NGO’s with opportunities for us to explore, etc.

Our diversity is our strength; we encourage people from all backgrounds and experiences, particularly women, to apply.
