Reporting to the Senior Survey Specialist, PHIA Project, the Survey Coordinator, PHIA Project will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of selected, country-specific Population-based HIV Impact Assessments (PHIAs) for ICAP’s PHIA Project. Coordinates all of the PHIA’s day-to-day survey activities, coordinates and supports the field team, oversees the activities of sub-contractors, and supports the overall implementation of the survey aspect of selected, country-specific PHIAs. Supports the training of staff on the survey protocol, procedures, policies, relevant regulations and also ensures that the survey protocol, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other relevant policies and regulations are being followed. Reports survey site progress, maintains survey files, provides oversight and management of specific in-country PHIA staff, and assists with the oversight of in-country sub-contracted survey and lab organizations.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Supports survey aspects of the PHIA Project for up to four concurrent, country-specific PHIAs, including protocol development and implementation, and maintenance of survey files.

  • Assists with recruiting, training and supervision of other PHIA Project staff related to the selected country-specific PHIAs.

  • Understands and adheres to the survey protocol, SOPs, and other appropriate regulations, procedures and policies; assists in drafting and revising SOPs and training manuals.

  • Ensures that PHIA Project staff maintain confidentiality of study participants and adhere to principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and ethics of human subjects research.

  • Liaises with, supports and coordinates outside contractors to ensure timely completion of contracted scopes of work while adhering to GCP and protection of human subjects research.

  • Liaises with representatives from the Ministries of Health (MoH) and CDC to discuss progress of the project and to address any challenges or issues that arise during conduct of the project.

  • Supports communication needs of local and international investigators through organizing meetings, conference calls, and regular interactions.

  • Prepares progress and other reports and study documents.

  • Assists with capacity building workshops.

  • Performs other related duties as directed.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Requires international travel up to 25% of the time, primarily to PHIA Project countries.

EDUCATION:


  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in related field; Master’s degree in Public Health or related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Minimum three (3) years of research experience as a Project Coordinator.

  • Demonstrated and successful experience supervising project teams.

  • Demonstrated experience working in low-resource settings.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel and Power Point).

  • Fluent English oral and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to interact professionally in English.
