Administrative Asst - Dept of Transportation - Staunton, VA

This position is HOURLY and does not have benefits. Position will work approximately 20 – 30 hours per week. Some flexibility available in work schedule. VDOT is seeking an individual to provide professional administrative support for a senior level manager. Position will provide customer service to manager and section staff and maintain calendars for staff and conference room. Position will also perform tasks such as: research and obtain quotes for materials and goods, create purchase orders and vouchers, facilitate MasterCard purchases, and apply budgetary codes; maintain equipment inventories, electronically archive and destroy records, and coordinate staff training and travel requests. This recruitment may be used to fill additional positions that occur at the Staunton District Complex. Minimum Qualifications Strong customer service skills; ability to accurately enter data, prepare reports and other fiscal forms and draft memos. Skill in use of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc), web based programs and general office equipment. Ability to work with minimal supervision, prioritize work to meet varying deadlines, and effectively communicate with managers and employees Preferred Qualifications Prior experience entering time and leave requests, researching and obtaining quotes for materials and goods and maintaining inventory reports. Special Requirements Valid driver’s license required. Fingerprint-based background check, references, work history and DMV records will be verified prior to employment.
