As a Clerk (OA) with the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board (RRB), you will provide clerical assistance to the Office of General Counsel legal staff.

Duties
As a Clerk (OA) with the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board (RRB), you will:


  • Search office files and library material and locate and forward to attorney(s).

  • Prepare sanitized material for distribution and respond to requests from other bureaus or offices for legal or coverage files or other correspondence

  • Establish and maintain office files

  • Type a variety of material

  • Provide other clerical assistance to attorneys

Qualifications
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is work experience or education that provided knowledge of legal research, format and categories of various types of legal documents, and the operation of a law office. Examples include assisting attorneys, work that provides knowledge of legal terminology, sorting and categorizing legal documents, and creating and maintaining legal files. In addition, applicants must have an adequate degree of proficiency in typing of at least 40 words per minute.

Education substitution: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.


TYPING PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS:


Applicants must have demonstrated typing experience in a position(s) held (as described above), and/or must self-certify proficiency in typing. This self-certification is indicated in the Occupational Questionnaire attached to this announcement.
