Purpose of Position:
To provide administrative support to applicants, participants, and local staff of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children. Administrative support includes screening income and determining financial eligibility, ordering appropriate lab work, collecting and entering data, scheduling and coordinating appointments, issuing food instruments, and providing nutrition education to low-risk participants. The Processing Assistant must possess a thorough working knowledge of all regularly scheduled clinics as follows: Pediatric, Prenatal, Family Planning, Adult Health, Immunizations, Communicable Disease, STD, TB, and any other added clinics or walk-ins. This position works closely with all program supervisors, nutrition staff health education staff, maternal and child service coordinators, and personal health staff.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
This position requires considerable knowledge of established health department clinic practices and procedures. Considerable skills in organizing work flow, effective communication techniques both orally and in writing. Must be able to type/keyboard 45 wpm.
Required Minimum Training:
Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant/secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience .
A valid N.C. Driver’s License, a driving record which meets County policy expectations
and proof of measles, mumps, varicella and rubella immunity are required.
