Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator and the overall supervision of the Head of the Unit, the Project Assistant will be responsible for working with the Return, Reintegration, and Family Reunification Program for Victims of Trafficking in the United States (U.S. Program), and providing assistance to the Unit for donor reporting, proposal processes, and liaison as needed.
Provide assistance to victims of trafficking in the U.S. who are beneficiaries of the Return, Reintegration, and Family Reunification Program for Victims of Trafficking in the United States (U.S. Program). This includes:
Responding to program inquiries;
Confirming receipt of applications and requests for assistance from IOM’s referring partners that are working with victims of trafficking in the U.S.;
Follow-up with referring agencies to gather all necessary information to assist the case;
Checking that no other source of financial assistance is available to the referred victim(s);
Gathering information on known risks related to the case and working with IOM Missions (and CTS, SSU as needed) to implement any necessary security measures;
Coordinating the assistance of various Missions and serving as the point of contact between the U.S. service provider and IOM Missions or local partners;
Liaising with the relevant Embassy in the U.S. to obtain a travel document for the returnee, when necessary; or liaising with U.S. Government entities, when necessary, to address potential roadblocks in the reunification;
Working with IOM Missions in country of return to develop a reintegration plan based on pre-existing resources and those RMF Washington may be able to supplement; or collecting and providing IOM Missions with cultural orientation information to be shared prior to reunification, as needed; and
Working with the IOM Mission in the country of origin/return to arrange international travel, airport assistance, and escorts, as needed.
Monitor U.S. Program expenditures related to casework and submit to Project Coordinator for approval;
Provide case data to Project Coordinator and support with typing of reports and proposals to donor;
Regularly update case data and referring partner information in U.S. Program database;
Assist the Unit in the submission of budget and narrative proposal packages as required;
Assist the Unit in the submission, and tracking of donor reports for as required;
Attend relevant meetings, trainings, and conferences on trafficking and report back to the office on such events;
Support the Unit on AVRR and other vulnerable migrant issues as required;
Perform other such duties, as may be assigned by the Head of Unit.
Required Qualifications and Experience
High school diploma and 4 years of experience or Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience, preferably in psychology, social services, social sciences, or related field.

Languages
Fluency in English is required. Spanish, French is an advantage.
