United States of America: Technical Support Intern (Summer)


HIAS seeks a Technical Support intern to provide technical support to HIAS staff (users) in all areas related to Personal Computers (PC), PC related hardware/software, E-Mail, mobile voice/data devices, and the internal phone system. User support also includes, but is not limited to; all device related peripherals; software; enterprise class applications; audio visual components, and video conferencing. End user assistance is provided in person at their location, via telephone, or using an electronic medium such as email, chat or remote support tools.


The position is unpaid but may be pursued for academic credit. A semester or quarter commitment is required.


Essential Functions:


  • Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs hardware and software according to the standards set by the HIAS Information Technology Department.

  • Provides technical support to users for IT related hardware and software.

  • Keeps individuals informed as to the status of their request for IT assistance.

  • Records all requests in the appropriate helpdesk system.

  • Maintains, repairs or replaces computing device related peripherals.

  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:


  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science related field.

  • Knowledge of Windows technology and its application to desktop environments.

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of a variety of PC software and hardware from different manufacturers; ability to learn new software packages and hardware configurations.

  • Ability to work in a team setting.
