MOTOR VEHICLE CUSTOMER SERVICE ASSOCIATE


M VD/Customer Service


Work Location: 525 S 12th Street, Cottonwood AZ 86326.


This is a training classification with a possible promotion to the Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative upon meeting the qualifications for the class, completion of appropriate MV technical training course and recommendation by the supervisor.


This position is open until ADOT needs are met and can be closed at any time.


POSITION SUMMARY: The Motor Vehicle Customer Service Associate learns to perform basic task in the areas of vehicle registration, inspection and title work, administers written, vision and road tests, issuance and renewal of vehicle driver licenses, and collect taxes. The work product consists of processing of licenses, registrations, titles, permits and vital records revenue recording and depositing daily; inquires satisfied and public informed. In addition, is responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of work products; security of cash receipts, accountable forms, applications and licenses; a variety of basic clerical duties.


WORK CONDITIONS: Continuous public contact, long period of standing or data imputing via computer terminal; working outdoors in various weather conditions administering road tests and/or vehicle inspections.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities


Knowledge of:


*Public and customer relations and problem resolution techniques, practices and procedures.


*Practices and reporting procedures established for the work unit for control and security of equipment, facilities, cash, records maintenance and forms.


*Office procedures and practices including filing and records maintenance, business grammar, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic.


Skills in:


*Customer service skills are a must in responding to staff and public with tact, diplomacy, and appropriate and timely information.


*Retrieving, analyzing and inputting data via computer terminal.


*Oral and written communication skills.


*Applying basic arithmetic computation.


*Properly applying laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures to the work unit.


*Elicit factual information and draw valid conclusions.


Ability to:


*Operate IBM compatible PC linked to mainframe, digital driver equipment, vision screening equipment, printers, Q-test examiner console system for administration of written driver test.


*Record and deposit revenue.


*Accurately provide program information, rules, regulations, laws, policy and procedures, and all applicable Arizona Revised Statutes.


*Work well with the public


*Adapt to very stressful situations.


PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS : Two years of experience in a high-visibility public contact, customer service environment which included the operation of a computer terminal, information processing equipment, automated cashiering equipment and handling or collecting of monies.


PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS


•This position requires possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License.


Candidates for this position must complete page 7 and sign the Driver Form on page 8 of the State of Arizona Application for Employment at the time of interview, which will allow ADOT to obtain the candidate’s motor vehicle record (MVR). The most recent 39-month period shown on the MVR will be reviewed in accordance with A.A.C. R2-10-207.12 (H) and (I). The review must show an acceptable driving record prior to any offer of employment being made by ADOT. Employment is contingent upon an acceptable MVR.


RETIREMENT: This position participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS)*.


*ASRS enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment, if not already an ASRS member at the time of hire.
