We are looking to recruit an experienced Operations Assistant to join our busy team within our growing Out of Hours operation based in Hemel Hempstead.


As a member of the Out of Hours Team you will be providing support on a national level to our service centres throughout the UK. As a key member of a tight knit team, you will work in conjunction with other offices to ensure smooth handovers for each shift. You will be responsible for booking and monitoring jobs, liaising with clients and third parties to ensure that the highest standard of service is provided.


The hours of work are a mixture of evenings, weekends and nights and the role is on a set 4 week rolling shift pattern averaging 41 hours per week, so a flexible approach is vital.


The key responsibilities within this role include:


  • Ensuring that every job is booked accurately, with all the relevant details taken from the customer.

  • All bookings are collected and delivered within agreed timescales.

  • Proactively monitoring all jobs from booking to completion.

  • The customer is informed promptly of any delays or issues.

  • Customer queries or problems are resolved promptly, and issues are escalated to the correct person where appropriate.

  • Ensuring all Service Centres provide adequate resources to achieve service levels and commercial targets.

  • Where adequate resource or information is not available, this is escalated to the relevant Service Centre Manager.

  • Use the most efficient courier choice.

The keys skills required for the role are:


  • Must be computer literate and comfortable learning new packages.

  • Fast accurate keyboard skills and attention to detail in data entry

  • Efficient, professional and customer focused telephone manner

  • Effective communication skills

  • Excellent punctuality and attendance

  • Able to work within a fast paced and pressured environment without constant supervision

  • Flexible

  • Reliable

  • Mature, Professional approach

  • Very good appreciation of UK geography
