This is a full-time, TERM position not to exceed 13 months with the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge Complex in Los Fresnos, Texas. This position may be extended up to a maximum of 4 years without further recruitment at management’s discretion.

- Answer visitors questions.
- Obtain and post information to records, such as number of visitor, survey information on length of visitor stay, size of visiting parties, and patterns of visitor use.
- Maintain supply of information materials and other stock items. Sell books and other items.
- Explain regulations covering common refuge use situations (such as field station rules and regulations).
- Collect fees, sells permits, and safeguards and balances collected funds.
- Maintain records on accountable permits and stock items.

By the closing date of this announcement, you must meet the minimum qualification requirements as outlined in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook and as identified in this announcement below. Basic Requirements for this position, y ou must meet A, B, or C below to qualify:
A. At least 3 months of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of at least the GS-2 level in the Federal service AND at least 6 months of general experience. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include, but are not limited to: Park Guide or tour leader; work in a park, recreation or conservation area; management, assistant or program specialist work involving the development and implementation of policy related to protection, conservation, or management of park areas or similar operations.
OR
B. 1 year of education above high school with 6 semester hours of course work in a related field. Related fields of study include natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archaeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources and I do not have the experience described in A. One year of education above high school is equivalent to 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours.

C. A combination of the type of education and experience described which would qualify me for this position. To combine education and experience, determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine your education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for this grade level. For example, I have 6 months of specialized experience such as described in A above, (50% of the required specialized experience) and I have 60 semester credits of appropriate education (50% of the education as in B above). If you select this response you MUST include transcripts.
Transcripts : You must submit a copy of your transcripts (official or unofficial photocopy) to document your educational accomplishments. Failure to submit this documentation by the closing date will result in disqualification from further consideration. Official transcripts will be required if you are selected to fill the position. College transcripts are still required if you currently occupy or previously occupied the series for which you are applying.

Requirements:
- A background investigation is required for this position.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- The work involves on-site visits requiring some physical exertion such as walking over wet, rough, uneven or rocky terrain; bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, lifting, or similar activities. The work requires average agility and dexterity. The employee must have the ability to work occasionally under pressure and tight deadlines.
- The job requires both office/visitor center and outdoor work. Offices and visitors are adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. Temperature and weather extremes may be encountered in the performance of the outdoor work. The work may require wearing protective clothing.

Skill in communicating effectively orally to a wide diversity of groups and individuals to conduct interpretive and environmental education programs.
