Responsibilities:
WORK ACTIVITIES/CONTEXT:
Maintain a working knowledge of the Company’s operational departments to better execute the goals of the Business Continuity program.
Perform maintenance of existing Business Impact Analysis and Business Recovery Plan to ensure changes within the Company departments are reflected accurately and timely.
Support the efforts of Team members in conducting Business Impact Analysis, writing Business Recovery Plans, and conducting exercises/drills for all functional areas.
Assist with maintenance of business continuity documents such as, kick-off presentation decks, policies and procedures documents, LDRPS guides, ROC Diagram, etc.
Contribute to research and analysis of Business Continuity risks, industry standard, and best practices.
Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description.
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders.
Qualifications:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree or minimum one year of work experience project management, contingency planning, crisis management, performing analysis and/or writing business reports required.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
College course work in the following areas: Business Continuity, Emergency Management, Crisis Planning, Finance, Accounting, Operations Management, and/or Project Management preferred.
Participated in at least one business continuity exercise preferred.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION:
Certification through Disaster RecoveryInstitute (DRI), Business Continuity Institute (BCI), or similar industryaccreditation is a plus; willingness to pursue appropriate certification required.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

Must be a motivated, self-starter able to prioritize and organize projects with time constraints and have the ability to complete them in a timely manner.
Must be comfortable working with MS Office products in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Must possess clear and concise writing skills. Writing samples may be requested.
Must have excellent verbal communication skills and ability to speak confidently in front of groups.
Must be Team player and have ability to work well on projects.
Must be able to handle multiple situations simultaneously with strong attention to detail.
Must have judgment sufficient to identify and resolve problems.
Maintains thorough knowledge in specialized area consistent with Southwest Airlines objectives.
Works well with Internal and External Customers to achieve the goals of Southwest Airlines.
Provides support to Senior Leaders on special projects.
Must demonstrate a strategic thought process, proactive initiative, and a sense of urgency.
Must take ownership and accountability.
Requires positive working relationship with other Departments within Southwest.
Must meet confidentiality expectations pertaining to confidential, proprietary, and sensitive Company information.
Must be available to travel as needed.
Ability to work after hours, weekends, holidays, and on-call, as needed.
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
