There is no examination for this recruitment. Persons who qualify will be placed on the eligible list in accordance with their availability to work in the various geographical districts on the Island of Hawai’i.
Picks up meals from vendors; packs meals; delivers noon meals to homebound elderly clients; keeps records of meal deliveries, projects income, and vehicle maintenance; and performs other duties as required.
Positions are permanent part-time (15 to 19 hours a week and paid by the hour) for the Nutrition Program with the Elderly Activities Division. Drives a minivan, Ford F150 (15 passenger) van and pick up truck with refrigeration unit (all vehicles are automatic).
If selected, a criminal background check will be conducted.
Examples of Duties:
- Picks up meals from vendors and ice for cold foods.
- Packs meals into containers.
- Delivers noon meals to homebound elderly clients Monday through Friday.
- Verifies route sheets daily for new clients and for meal count.
- Loads containers into vehicles.
- Keeps records of deliveries.
- Refers any client irregularities to supervisor for follow up.
- Cleans up kitchen packing area.
- Returns pans to vendors.
- Delivers and picks up inter-office mail.
- Tallies and records daily project income, prepares deposit slip, and deposits income.
- Does daily maintenance check of vehicle, reports any problems.
- Keeps vehicle clean.
- Responds to emergencies involving clients.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Training and Experience:
A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to:
- graduation from high school; and
- possession of a valid State of Hawai’i driver’s license (Class 3) or any other valid comparable driver’s license by the closing deadline. You will be required to submit your valid driver’s license at time of the job interview; and
- candidates must possess a good driving record certified by a traffic abstract confirming no DUI convictions, license revocations, or suspensions for three (3) years preceding and no moving violations for one (1) year preceding, which must be presented at the time of interview.
Note: Prior to completion of probation, must posses current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.
Ability to: perform manual labor; work well with the elderly; prepare simple reports; read street maps; understand and follow written and oral instructions.
