Job DescriptionPrepares, screens, routes, files, and distributes public records by performing the following duties. Enters, codes, and retrieves a variety of information from various computer systems, according to appropriate procedures. Searches and retrieves information from files, microfiche, computer records, and other documents in response to specific requests. Releases information and documents in accordance with the Public Information Act and other applicable laws and procedures. Maintains logs and other records controls to assure tracking of files. Categorizes statistics according to a variety of guidelines and criteria. Answers phone calls for records bureau and responds to a variety of requests for information concerning records and department functions and policies. Assists with record preparation, microfilming, and inspection of microfilm. Maintains the good condition of the micrographic equipment and film. Reviews microfilm after processing to verify accuracy and completeness of images. Assists with the inventory, retrieval and disposition of municipal records as stipulated by official records retention schedules. Assists in developing records retention schedules for company and conducting records inventories of offices. Interacts with the public and respond effectively in answering inquires. Prepares documents/records for microfilming and films them to standards by choosing optimum settings for the camera to achieve the best density and resolution. Performs other duties as assigned. Requires: Associate’s degree (AA/AS) or equivalent; and six months to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid South Carolina Driver”s License. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel and Word or similar software.
