NATURE & SCOPE:
The incumbent reports directly to the Warehouse Supervisor. Functions in a department that exists to provide quality perishable, dryline grocery and general merchandise product to retailers in a timely manner. The incumbent’s primary responsibility involves processing incoming product and selecting, loading and preparing outgoing product.
Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Selects various grocery, perishable, general merchandise products or supplies from warehouse stock by reading computer generated information.
Matches written information to product locations, product descriptions, and identification codes to the purchase order.
May count, sort, or weigh incoming orders to verify receipt of items on purchase orders.
Examines stock to verify conformance to specifications.
Stores product in bins, on floor, or on shelves, according to identifying information.
Reports adjustments to inventory counts, spoilage or damage to stock, location changes, and out of stocks.
May determine methods of storage, identification, and stock location, considering temperature, humidity, height, and weight limits, turnover, floor loading capacities, and required space.
Transports product throughout warehouse via manual or electric pallet jack and/or forklift.
Responsibilities include maintaining order selection performance standards of speed and accuracy with minimum damage and maximum safety.
Attends work regularly and on time as scheduled
Assists other department personnel in the performance of work activities when peak work loads require or during absences of division personnel.

Plans and prioritizes work load to ensure that department needs are met as well as the overall organizational needs of the company
Follows instructions promptly and efficiently, taking initiative when appropriate
Ensures that temporary assignments/coverage for departments are completed in a timely and efficient manner
Adheres to and observes SUPERVALU’ Organizational Work Rules and Regulations and SUPERVALU’ Safe Work Procedures
Communicates frequently with supervisor to alert the status of on-going operations pertaining to the incumbent’s area of responsibility
Promotes good working relationships by maintaining a courteous and friendly manner
Maintains favorable working relations with division personnel
Performs various Warehouse/Transportation Department related functions and assignments in an accurate and timely manner, as required by the supervisor
Maintains order selection performance standards of speed and accuracy with minimum damage.
Job Requirements:
Education/Work History: Must be 18 years of age due to equipment operation. High school diploma or equivalent desired. Minimum one year warehousing or retail supermarket experience desired. Minimum one year experience as a shipping, receiving, or stock clerk highly desirable.
Job Skills: Excellent human relations skills required. Forklift and pallet jack operation experience desirable. Proven ability to match and reference numbers with speed and accuracy required. Good arithmetic reasoning and reading skills required. Good attention to detail, time management, and spacial judgement required. Analytical skills highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to perform the physical requirements listed below.
Physical Requirements: Warehouse environment where physical demands of the job are great. Frequent bending, stooping, and lifting up to 80 lbs. required. Job duties require handling cases of product from various positions including reaching above head. Ability to work in temperatures ranging from -10 to 80 degrees required. Manual dexterity required. Steady work pace required due to production requirements. Must be 18 years of age due to equipment operations.
