Duties/Responsibilities:






Duties will include the following activities conducted in an agile environment:






  • Requirements analysis and specification


  • Architectural modeling & prototyping and design


  • Implementation & Unit Test and peer reviews


  • Integration Test

 






Responsibilities will also include the following:






  • Collaboration with extended PON access development team


  • SQA support


  • Consultation on key customer opportunities


  • Some travel is expected for collaboration with extended development teams





Qualifications include experience with one or more of the following.






  • B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with a concentration in software engineering or equivalent. M.S. preferred.


  • 10 – 15+ years of increasing software engineering responsibility on an embedded networking product. Direct involvement with Broadcom ING SDK and/or PON Firmware is advantageous.


  • Direct knowledge and implementation of ITU/BBF GPON, IEEE EPON, DPoE™ DOCSIS® 1.0, 1.1, 2.0 and / or PacketCable 1.5 protocols. Knowledge of DOCSIS 3.0 and PacketCable 2.0 is highly desired.


  • Specific understanding of DOCSIS 1.1 upstream & downstream Service Flow (QoS) scheduling & enforcement, IPv4 and IPv6 Classification, Admission Control, and Subscriber Management.


  • General TCP/IP, networking, telephony, and data communications protocol knowledge.





Candidate must have proven ability in the following:






  • Proficiency in C and/or C++ programming in a soft real-time embedded LINUX operating system (traditional RTOS experience useful as well). Well organized, understandable, and commented coding practices are a must.


  • Network processor and/or BRCM SDK switching experience


  • Day-to-day experience with Software Configuration Management, code review, defect tracking, and documentation control tools.


  • Excellent verbal and written skills (well written specification skills is a must)


  • Must be able to conduct independent research on new technologies, products, SDK/APIs, and protocols that apply to customer requirements for new product designs.
