This position performs investigative work for Child Support Enforcement purposes. Incumbent is responsible for the establishment and enforcement of child support orders and has control and responsibility for the financial management and accounting of these support orders. Children that are deprived of parental support are able to receive financial assistance and services through the actions taken by this position. In monitoring court ordered payments, the incumbent determines what action to take when the non-custodial parent (NCP) is in arrearage: negotiate out of court, take to court, and utilize income withholding. Considerable independent judgment is exercised in applying appropriate rules, regulations and laws to specific cases. A four year degree and six months experience in investigative, judiciary, eligibility or legal work; or an associate degree in business administration, human resources, law enforcement or closely related degree and two years of experience in investigative, judiciary, eligibility or legal work; or graduation from high school and three years of experience in investigative, judiciary, eligibility or legal work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and ability.
