ICAP at Columbia University in the Mailman School of Public Health is seeking a Part-Time Health Informatics Assistant to support database development and implementation projects in the Strategic Information Unit. Under the guidance of the HMIS Project Manager, the candidate will assist in configuring, documenting and providing training on ICAP-supported applications.


This position is grant funded.

Duties include:


  • Assist in setting up various open-source health informatics tools, such as DHIS2 and OpenMRS

  • Adapt open-source health informatics tools to meet ICAP-specific data collection and data dissemination needs

  • Support the development and implementation of workplans for informatics-related projects

  • Develop and maintain active user support documentation using online collaboration

  • Assist in data management activities for PHIA (population-based HIV impact assessments) project

Education:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Informatics, Computer Science, Engineering, Epidemiology or related field

Experience, Skills & Minimum Required Qualifications


  • Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to understand SQL queries/routines

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially Excel

  • Experience in developing documentation and training non-technical users as necessary

  • Critical thinking and analysis, verbal and written communication

Preferred Qualifications –


  • Basic database development experience

  • Basic programming experience

  • Experience working with DHIS2 and/or OpenMRS at a programmatic level

  • Experience working with JasperReports
