Customer Service Representative I (Fee Collector) - Texas Parks and Wildlife Department - Laredo, TX





Under the direction of the park office manager, this position is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of revenue collection and accounting, permit sales, automated registration of visitors, answering telephones, and clerical duties. Duties include, but are not limited to, correspondence and report preparation, , license sales, providing information to the public, registration and reservations using an automated system, providing quality customer service and general cleaning of the Park Headquarters. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency Division, and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.

Qualification Guidelines:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:


  • Completion of the 8th grade.

Experience:

  • One year experience in areas such as general clerical, cash handling, or customer service.

Licensure:

  • Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid class “C” Texas driver’s license.

NOTE: Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:


  • Graduation from High School or GED.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of general office procedures;

  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing systems, filing and records management systems, forms design principles and other office procedures and terminology;

  • Knowledge of basic mathematics;

  • Knowledge of general custodial duties;

  • Skill in basic report writing and math required for completing various daily and weekly reports;

  • Skill in using MS Word, Excel and Outlook;

  • Skill in effective verbal and written communication;

  • Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner;

  • Skill in using standard office equipment;

  • Skill establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with co-workers and work-related contacts;

  • Ability to accurately handle cash and account for revenue collected;

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively;

  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision;

  • Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program.


Additional Information:


WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Required to work in a public park with overnight camping and day use;

  • Required to work 40 hour work week with hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and days off other than Saturday, Sunday and holidays;

  • Required to conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures

  • Required to travel 5%;

  • Required to operate a State vehicle;

  • Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.
