Position Information

The Scheduling Representative is the primary WakeMed contact for scheduling outpatient services provided across the hospital system within a call center environment. Responsibilities consist of answering calls from an incoming call queue in order to schedule new appointments or reschedule previously scheduled appointments as needed; and managing incoming faxed or electronically sent physician orders. The Scheduling Representative’s customer base consist of patients, physicians and their office staff, as well as internal departmental staff.


Experience Requirements :

Typing 35 – 40 wpm, basic computer skills with at least two (2) years of data entry and ability to use multiple applications, at least five (5) or more years experience providing service to a diverse customer base with a high level of customer contact, and at least one (1) year experience in a healthcare setting including hospital, outpatient facility or physician office required. Typing 40 wpm, intermediate computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office applications, five (5) or more years experience providing service to a diverse customer base with a high level of customer contact within a healthcare setting, knowledge of insurance verification and authorization processes, ability to schedule appointments within SCI – Schedule Maximizer, GE Centricity, or Epic-Cadence at least two (2) years scheduling exams and tests for Imaging Services and/or Rehab Services, and medical terminology preferred.


Education Required :

High School Graduate required. Associates Degree preferred.

Hours of Work : Monday – Friday 8am – 4:30pm

Weekend Requirements : No Weekends

Call Requirements : No Call
