The employee works as a cashier in The Garden Cafe area and is responsible for large amounts of cash, each shift, including an operating bank. Prepares cashier’s report and deposits revenues as per Cash Handling Procedures. Assists in the food service area and dining room. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Performs all duties and responsibilities projecting The Methodist Hospital best care and/or service image. 2. Follows all Cash Handling Procedures for depositing of The Garden Café revenues with the Main Cashier during the day and Security during the evening shift. Handles and is responsible for operating bank ($350.00), cash receipts and deposits (from $400.00 to $1800.00). Accurately processes all transactions on cash register, giving proper change and a legible receipt each time. Consis10tly stays within the short/over guidelines. (Cashier Balance Parades). Accurately completes Cashier’s Report at the end of each shift. Fills out Doctors’ and all other Charge Tickets according to procedures. Use bill counter to count bank and deposit. Adds house and other changes signs twice to check balance. 3. Handles customer’s complaints. Responsible for changing the menu boards. Stocks all snack items on service counters. Replenish plastic flatware dispersers. Maintains the cashier area in an organized way. 4. Participates in units Quality Management program and complies with standards of Regulatory Agencies. 5. Practices cost control through proper use of supplies and equipment. 6. Adapts to change. 7. Being a team player, cooperating and assisting others. 8. Performs other job related duties as assigned. 9. Follows Food and Nutrition Services Mission Statement and the Code of Conduct. 10. Performs other duties as assigned. 11. Demonstrated the componets of I CARE values statement. 12. Follows all safety rules while on the job. Reports accidents promptly are corrects minor safety hazards. Communicates with peers and management regarding and hazards identified in the work place.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or GED equivalent
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 1 year of experience on an electronic cash register and changer in a volume food service establishment or other equivalent situation. Capable of using simple math and operating a 10-key calculator. 1 year of barista experience.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED 1. Physically able to sit/stand for 8 hour shifts. 2. Operates potentially hazardous equipment. 3. Must adhere with the Food and Nutrition Services’ Standards of Appearance and comply with the City of Houston Food Ordinances.
