Clinton, the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to strengthening integrated health systems around the world and expanding access to care and treatment for HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other illnesses. Based on the premise that business oriented strategy can facilitate solutions to global health challenges, CHAI acts as a catalyst to mobilize new resources and optimize the impact of these resources to save lives, via improved organization of commodity markets and more effective local management. By working in association with governments and other NGO partners, CHAI is focused on large scale impact and, to date, CHAI has secured lower pricing agreements for treatment options in more than 70 countries. In addition, CHAI’s teams are working side-by-side with over 30 governments to tackle many of the largest barriers to effective treatment and care. Due to the continued success of our initiative we continue to grow exponentially and to support that growth we are expanding the capacity of our Human Resources department. The position of Senior Human Resources Director requires a strategic and experienced Human Resources executive who has extensive experience in working within complex, global organizations. She/he must have some experience working in support of senior leadership and the ability to bring immediate credibility to the Human Resources function through his/her professional qualifications and leadership skills as well as project the highest levels of integrity. She/he must be a self-directed individual who takes initiative, forges consensus and is a team player. She/he must be a decisive individual who can strategically and tactically evaluate, develop and implement HR related program and initiatives. The Senior Human Resources Director is responsible for providing leadership in developing and executing human resources strategies in support of the overall CHAI plan and strategic direction specifically in the areas of organization development, compensation and benefits, employee relations, career paths, compliance and HR operations. This position reports to the President & COO, and leads the HR function with team members in Africa, Southeast Asia & India and the Americas.


Responsibilities:


  • Lead, structure, develop and evaluate the performance of the Human Resources function. Develop scalable processes and build the team to facilitate and support growth.

  • Provide leadership in developing and executing a human resources strategy in support of the strategic plan for the organization. Acts as advisor to senior leadership and identifies critical areas of organization development needed. Works with managers to determine their organization needs.

  • Responsible for management and effective use of career paths to support growth for associates.

  • Responsible for the development, roll out and stewardship of the worldwide CHAI compensation and benefits system.

  • Key liaison in HR for employee relations issues.

  • Design and implement cost effective and legally compliant programs, policies, practices and processes that effectively communicate and support the organization’s strategic vision and programmatic objectives. Strive for constant improvement.

  • Responsible for the organization’s compliance with Federal and State legislation pertaining to all areas of Human Resources function in the United States and, similarly, for all countries in which we operate around the world. Responsible for worldwide compliance with respect to local labor laws in each country (e.g. contracts, work permits, benefits, vacation/sick time).

  • Supports the CFO and senior leadership team to ensure all proper registrations are in place for the countries where we work and that we are in compliance with work permit requirements and taxation requirements for all associates.

  • Responsible for the Employee handbook. This includes the handbook for US-based associates and working with each country to ensure that full and accurate information regarding HR requirements is included in each country handbook.

  • Advance the development of the human resource information system to improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization. Responsible for the accuracy and maintenance of employee records.

  • Simplify, automate and outsource services and processes as appropriate to maximize productivity and efficiency.

  • Manage vendors, brokers, consultants, plan administrator, etc. to ensure the organization is receiving quality expertise, guidance, data, recommendations and services at an appropriate cost.

  • Responsible for an effective Respectful Workplace policy and system.

  • Develop and manage the department and related budgets and other financial measure of the Human Resources Development.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s preferred

  • Minimum of 10 years proven human resources work experience with at least 5 years in a senior management support capacity

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as with a team

  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, limited structured environment

  • Adept interpersonal skills; strength in developing and maintaining client management relationships

  • Experience in an international organization, with diverse cultures, virtual teams and many different countries to support on

  • Must be available for travel up to 40% (domestic and international)
