Assists with new and existing employee orientation and prepares associated documents for benefits enrollment and payroll; and provides data entry and maintenance for Human Resources Information Systems by performing the following duties:
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
Enrolls new employees and changes existing employees information in the automated database to include position, rate of pay, distribution of salary, demographics, medical information, leave accruals, adjustments before taxes, tax witholdings, benefits, direct deposits, terminations, job transfers, calculations and processing of insurance premiums.
Maintains confidentiality and security of all information relevant to County Human Resources Information.
Enters and receives purchase orders for the Human Resource department to include knowledge of and access to the Human Resource budget balance, requisition entry, purchasing and approval of requisitions, and receipting of services and merchandise.
Maintains awareness of job vacancies and recruitment activities.
Prepares, receives and/or processes various documents, records, and reports including personnel records, compensations reports, claims, insurance forms, letters, personnel action forms, retirement reports, applications for employment and tax and bankruptcy garnishments.
Prepares worker’s compensation documents for processing.
Conducts various routine office activities such as typing, receiving and processing mail, and photocopying.
Answers incoming calls and provides guidance and assistance, directs/routes calls to appropriate personnel, department or agency, and takes messages.
Uses many types of office equipment including copier, calculator, personal computer and related equipment.
Stays abreast of current developments in employee relations and legal requirements through readings, professional associations, and seminars.
Maintains all personnel files and records in an organized, accurate and confidential manner. This includes self-audits of all files, records, and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with all legal requirements.
Assists the Human Resources Staff as needed and provides assistance to employees with personnel related concerns.
Provides professional and courteous customer service at all times to in-house staff and general public either by telephone, electronically, or face to face.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Training
Associate’s degree A. A. or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in accounting or business administration; and three to five years experience in an administrative position that includes accounting and benefits administration.
