WORK SCHEDULE: 4 Days (28/29 hours) per Week

JOB SUMMARY:


The Temporary Senior Program Associate, Gender/MAP will provide support and backstopping for the gender team. The Temporary Senior Program Associate will ensure effective program design, implementation and evaluation; document best practices and lessons learned; and provide technical assistance to various programs.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Gender Team Leadership


  • Support development and implementation of organizational and programmatic gender integration including Gender Strategy and Gender Standards and Practices.

  • Represent EH within the professional community, as well as other external audiences when required

  • Review and updating of gender programming tools

Technical Assistance to Global and Country Programs


  • Collaboratively develops responsive, realistic and high quality plans to build the capacity of EH field staff and constituents.

  • Provide TA to global and country programs when required

ME&R and KM


  • Contributes to development of indicators and methodologies to measure gender with the Evaluation and Research unit, advises and/or participates on the evaluation of global and country gender/MAP activities and the communication of findings.

Business Development


  • Contribute to proposal development and revisions including serving as technical lead when required.

Other duties as assigned.


Key Deliverables:


  1. Strategy for operationalizing the Gender S&Ps.

  2. Strategy and plan for systematic capacity building in gender mainstreaming across the organization

  3. Develop archive of gender tools, curricula, publications developed by EngenderHealth over the last 10 years

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS:


· Bachelors or graduate degree in public health/related discipline or professional degree in a health-related field. · Five to eight (5-8) years of technical and program experience in gender transformative programming around sexual and reproductive health, HIV and AIDS, and violence prevention.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


· A self-starter with a sense of humor, good judgment, the ability to work in a fast-paced, creative environment, and adapt quickly to changing needs and priorities. · Excellent multicultural, interpersonal, and leadership skills including the ability to facilitate relationships and interact effectively with others inside and outside the organization. · Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, including the ability to speak and write for a range of audiences and purposes. · Broad based knowledge of gender issues and programming, particularly in Africa and Asia. · Demonstrated strategic planning and program implementation experience. · Demonstrated experience managing and coaching individuals and teams for achieving results. · Competency (R3/S3) in French is highly desirable. · International and national travel may be possible.
