As a Bank Examiner (Field Examiner) with ERM/Governance, you will serve as the focal point in the examination of selected banks or business lines within Large Banks, participating in planning and conducting examinations, preparing of reports, and presentation of findings and recommendations to senior managers at the bank or federal branch and the OCC.

Duties


As a National Bank Examiner/Bank Examiner (LB Field Examiner) with ERM/Governance, you will:


Plan, coordinate, and monitor supervisory activities. Specifically, assess risk, develop supervisory strategies, determine the scope of supervisory activities, manage teams of assisting personnel, prepare reports of activities, and develop responses to address risks within the company.

As head of a significant functional area, conduct and supervise activities which involve complex issues and present a high level of risk to the bank. Understand and implement the OCC’s program for Supervision by Risk.

Conduct or participate in discussions with senior bank management on findings and recommendations. Prepare communications with Boards of Directors and senior bank management in order to foster positive changes within the bank. Maintain effective communications within the OCC and ensure that appropriate coordination and follow-up activities take place.

Plan, organize, and control supervisory activities which may include the supervision of assigned staff. Assign supervision of departments or risk areas to appropriate personnel. Direct, review, and evaluate the work of assigned personnel. May be assigned responsibility for the preparation of annual performance appraisals. Ensure effective use of human and financial resources and compliance with priority schedules.

Serve as a training team leader or instructor; provide leadership and training to other examiners; participate in Shared National Credit reviews (may act as voting member); and safeguard equipment, sensitive data, and resources. May participate in various field, district, and Washington Office assignments.

Provide assignments and training in an equitable manner, taking into account the needs of the OCC and career development goals of individuals. Promote a harassment free work environment consistent with EEO and affirmative employment principles.

Qualifications


In order for your application to be considered, you must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement:


You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-V and/or NB-V.2 band level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. The experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:


Applying knowledge of supervision by risk, accounting, auditing, or risk management principles in large or complex financial institutions; experience examining, auditing, consulting, or serving as a risk manager in large or complex financial institutions. Favorable adjudication of a background investigation that includes criminal history, financial history (including credit check), and other information.
