Shift Engineer...

My leading client is seeking an experienced Shift Engineer on a permanent basis to be based from home after successful completion of initial training. They are paying a competitive salary + an additional allowance for shift/home work.

The company currently offers 24 x 7 remote support, so they are looking for an engineer to complement the existing team within the following rota/shifts:
- 8am to 5pm
- 4pm to 1am
- 12am to 8am

This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking for home based working with shift patterns to compliment your life style. There is also choice to select a preferred shift time and scope to change shift times on an ongoing basis.

During your initial training period you will be provided with in-house system based training and provided with all of the tools necessary to allow your skills to be used to their full effect. You will then be working from the comfort of your home, but fully integrated into the company system.

Shift Engineer Responsibilities:
• Technical incident management.
• First-line IT support and remote access. Remote monitoring of business-critical products and service levels utilising Wavex bespoke applications.
• PC and server configuration.
• Firewall configuration and troubleshooting.
• Proactive server monitoring and reporting.
• System checks.
• Problem resolution
• ITIL awareness (or similar)
• Back up monitoring and reporting.

Core skills - Essential:
• 12 to 18 months direct applied work experience in a similar role.
• knowledge of Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007/2010, Active Directory, Group Policies, RRAS, DNS, Terminal Services and DHCP
• Experience with Citrix remote access/XenApp.
• Experience of virtualised environments
• Excellent knowledge of desktop operating systems (Windows XP, Vista & Windows7).
• Excellent Microsoft Office applications knowledge.
• Excellent communication (verbal and written), diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.

Desirable:
• MCP\MCSA\MCSE\MCITP\CCNA\JNCIA at least one of these certifications.
• Experience with using and configuring mail on Blackberry/PDAs.
• Some experience of diagnosing Mac hardware and software issues, or have a good understanding of Mac hardware and software.
• Knowledge of other vendors including Cisco, Juniper, VMWare, Checkpoint and Symantec is advantageous
• Excellent communication.

• Able to prioritise tasks whilst maintaining a clear customer focused approach
• Reliable and willing to solve client service requests.
• Keen for new experience, responsibility and accountability.
• Confident and have a professional telephone manner engaging with our clients, 3rd Party suppliers, other engineers and line management.
• Able to provide justification and recommendations of where client infrastructure can be improved.
