Job Summary

We are currently recruiting for an Appointments Scheduler to join our team at the Mid and South Buckinghamshire NHS Diagnostic Centre in High Wycombe.
This is a dynamic diagnostics centre environment which requires an ability to work effectively as a multi professional team member within a fast pace environment. The ideal candidate should have excellent customer service and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

To provide a comprehensive, patient-centred clinical administration process, including:
Ensuring on a day to day basis all received referrals are signed off by the appropriate clinical team member
Review incoming referrals and cross reference information requested is as approved by appropriate clinical member.
Entering of exam types once approved onto the CRIS system
Checking all patient and GP details are entered correctly onto the CRIS system
Contacting all patients personally wherever possible to arrange an appointment of their choice
Meeting targets set by the PCT for responding to patient referrals
Advising the patient of all necessary preparation to enable their appointment to run smoothly
Obtaining all necessary information from patients with regard to certain scan types eg. MRI questionnaire
Point of contact with patients requiring additional information or concerns upon booking of appointments
Research and obtain medical records via GP’s or hospitals if advised and deemed necessary by the appropriate clinical team to ascertain patient safety and to enable Radiographer to make a informed decision to perform scan
HCA duties if necessary and agreed within Ultrasound, MRI and X-ray


Skills & Experience

Experience of working in a customer care environment
Experience of general office duties
Experience of using MS Office applications & scheduling software
Communication – both written and verbal
Able to prioritise and complete tasks in a timely manner
Able to work under pressure
Excellent organisation and time management skills
Customer service skills
Good telephone manner
Understanding of medical terminology
Keyboarding skills – approx 45 wpm typing ability
