Revenue Agent (EL) job - Department of Revenue - Atlanta, GA
Determine tax liability or collects taxes from individuals or business firms according to prescribed laws and regulations. This is the entry/training level of the Examiners, Collectors, and Revenue Agents job series. Incumbents at this level may require additional training or experience to gain full proficiency in some or all of the job responsibilities.
In addition to the duties above, incumbents will be responsible for financial customer service, researching tax liabilities, collecting unpaid taxes, and initiating enforced collection activities including garnishments and bank levies. Duties include corresponding with taxpayers, their representatives, banking institutions, and court offices, by mail, phone, and in person. Duties require high levels of computer research skills, customer service skills, analytical skills, and independent judgment.

The ability to interpret tax laws, policies, rules, and regulations pertaining to tax collection

Preferred Criteria
·
A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, math, or tax law
·
Familiarity with tax processing computer systems
·
Classes or work experience in accounting
·
Experience with computer research

Related degrees include : business, finance, economics, math, or legal studies/tax law
In addition to meeting the entry qualifications priority consideration will be given to:
Applicants with one year experience in accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, tax, law or collections
Applicants with a score of 75 or higher on the Revenue Agent Test
Testing will be offered at the Department of Revenue’s Century Center location (1800 Century Blvd., Atlanta GA, 30354)
on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 9am and 1pm, Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 9am and 1pm, Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 1pm and Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 1pm . The Office of Human Resources will contact qualified applicants to schedule testing. If you have already taken and passed the Revenue Agent Test, attach your test results when you apply for this position.
Qualifications
:
One year of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, tax, law, collections or a related area OR Associate degree in accounting, bookkeeping or related area AND a passing score on the Revenue Agent Test
