Administrative Specialist II (County Administrative Support Specialist II) job - State of South Carolina - Cherokee County, SC

Under general supervision, perform a variety of advanced clerical and typing duties. Exercise judgment and discretion in various duties performed for the agency.

1. Receive clients applying for FI and SNAP benefits, explain services and register applications, assign caseworkers and scan registered applications in SCOSA.


2. Serve as switchboard operator of the agency by receiving calls, transfer calls to the desired extensions and assemble folders for intake cases.


3. Greet customers at the reception desk, discern customers’ needs and route them to designated program/caseworker either directly or via tracking sheet through client registration. Copy documents for clients and scan into the SCOSA system to appropriate caseworker.


4. Perform clerical support for Economic Services and Family Services to include: application packets, appointment letters, transfer in/out cases, prepare alert changes, process MR’s and scan into SCOCS, complete time studies, issue bus tickets, research via computer County Government records for child support, release property and vehicle information.


5. Receive, open, stamp and distribute all drop box and incoming mail to appropriate individuals or folders in SCOSA, and prepare outgoing and courier mail daily.


6. Order supplies weekly for the clerical unit, submit faxes, replenish copiers and network printers with toner, paper and envelopes. Respond to quality control requests, assist the supervisor as needed and perform other related duties as required.


7. Responsible for filing incoming case files on file shelves, pull outgoing files as requested, maintain separation of case files by program and purge closed case files as required for destruction and archives.


8. Perform emergency disaster management services to include American Red Cross sheltering and Disaster SNAP duties.


9. Perform job delivery and/or performance with positive or appropriate customer service delivery to clients, the public and co-workers as an integral requirement.


Minimum and Additional Requirements:


A high school diploma and two (2) years of clerical experience. Selected positions may require the ability to type at a corrected rate of 35 words per minute.


Preferred Qualifications:


Knowledge of grammatical rules, spelling and clerical formats. Knowledge of office management policies and working knowledge of standard office equipment. Ability to coordinate and work well with others. Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing). Courteous and respectful to their colleagues, clients and the general public.
