JOB SUMMARY
Under Treasurer’s supervision, this position assists in all department functions, including management of utility billing, collections and customer service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Assists in preparation of tax bills for residents and businesses in accordance with established procedures
· Responds to public inquiries and provides customer service to residents
· Manages utility billing
· Perform daily deposits and reconciliations
· Maintains various records on utilities, taxes, business licenses and other town related documents.
· Performs related duties as assigned
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
This job functions under general direction and uses a wide range of procedures in meeting job responsibilities; plans and arranges own work; and refers only unusual cases and situations to supervisor. This job reports to the Town Treasurer.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
Physical Demands
· Tasks involve the ability to exert very light physical effort involving some combination of sitting, walking, stooping, kneeling; and may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight
· Ability to work overtime when required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Experience in Microsoft Word and Excel
· Accounting software experience and some college course work is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Knowledge of basic accounting
· Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public
· Good oral communication skills
