Operate a telephone switchboard by receiving and directing calls to appropriate areas in an efficient, pleasant and professional manner. Other responsibilities include typing various materials to include correspondence, reports, etc. using word processing equipment and other receptionist duties as may be assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following is a summary of the essential job functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
1. Operate the telephone system during the designated operating hours.
2. Ensure the telephone system is operating efficiently, and when problems arise, contact appropriate telephone repair personnel.
3. Project a pleasant and professional voice to callers.
4. Keep current information on phone numbers of company employees.
5. Greet all visitors, determine nature of business, provide appropriate information, and refer visitors to appropriate person in the organization or contact that person by telephone, arranging an appointment.
6. Provide information, directions, answers to inquiries, etc. as needed.
7. Receive and notify recipients of deliveries from UPS, Federal Express and other express carriers. Receive and notify appropriate persons of other deliveries such as supplies, furniture and equipment.
8. Have a working knowledge of the services provided by the bank/agency such that connections can be made to those who can answer questions regarding these services.
9. Perform those duties that are directly related to the specific job assignment/work area.
10. Type general correspondence and reports as assigned.
11. Represent BB&T in a professional and mature manner.

2. Ability to read and follow written instructions
3. Excellent communication skills

Desired Skills and Competencies:
1. Associate degree or some college
2. PC skills including Windows, Excel, and mainframe data entry
3. Good knowledge of the functions of the various departments and the services offered
