****Development Assistant, Health Affairs****


The Development Assistant supports the Development Director and Grants and Contracts Manager in meeting Health Affairs’ annual fiscal goals. The incumbent assists with full implementation of The Raiser’s Edge Database, post-award administration to grant closure, setting of meetings and calls with funders, and participates in a number of other initiatives. The position assists with coordinating a number of efforts, independently and is located out of our Bethesda, MD office.


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


1) Assist in full implementation of The Raiser’s Edge fundraising database; collaborate with the Grants and Contracts Manager. (60%)


  • Track all ongoing proposals and prospects; including schedule of calls, meetings, documents, and proposals to be submitted.

  • Create and distribute tasks for upcoming reports for all secured grants.

  • Develop a full history of Health Affairs fundraising from documents in the central Development network folder.

  • Assist with staff development.

2) Assist with administrative responsibilities in relation to funder relationships and grants. (40%)


  • Coordinate post-grant administration to closure. Ensure funder acknowledgment via the *Health Affairs*journal, website, press releases, events, and e-newsletter.

  • Communicate with funders to obtain logos, shipping information, and more.

  • Share funder acknowledgement information and specifics with Health Affairs staff, including the Director of Communications, Editor-in-Chief, and others.

  • Coordinate meetings and conference calls with funders.

  • Provide research of potential new and lapsed funders.

  • Organize and merge past grant files and documents with the centralized Development location.

  • Pull information from Google Analytics and Altmetric as needed.

  • Support the Development Director and Grants and Contracts Manager with daily tasks.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor’s degree or 1-3 years of work experience.

  • 1-2 years of experience in a nonprofit setting; fundraising or grants management preferred.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with The Raiser’s Edge database, minimum 1 year of experience. Strong familiarity with utilizing constituents, proposals, media, gifts, dashboards, and other modules.

  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new needs and priorities.

  • Demonstrated analytical and persuasive writing skills experience as well as superior editing skills, including ability to convey complex information in a clear manner to a diverse audience.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Highly organized.

  • Strong administrative skills and self-motivated with the ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks under minimal supervision in effective and efficient manner.

  • Intermediate to expert skills in Microsoft Office suite.

  • Minimal travel required.
