The Meter Reader role requires critical thinking, works independently throughout the day and must have solid communication with the Meter Reading Supervisor.
Do you have a desire to perform a variety of tasks within your position?
Meter Readers are trained to complete additional tasks other than reading meters. These tasks could include inside leak surveys, corrosion inspections, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Requirements for this position:
- Valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree a plus)
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions (e.g., hot and cold temperatures, rain and snow)
- Walk an average minimum of 4-6 hours per day (approximately 5-10 miles)
- Visually be able to read and to transcribe numbers accurately
- Operate and transport a hand held computer (approximately 3 lbs.)
- Adhere to company policies
- Kneel and crawl as required, sometimes in tight spaces (e.g., basements, bushes)
- Work in an environment that occasionally includes encounters with various animals/insects (e.g., dogs, raccoons, spiders, bees) Work 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday thru Friday with the potential for mandatory overtime on nights and weekends
