Two (2) temporary positions (35 hours/week – up to 75 working days) to supervise and instruct individuals with disabilities on basic job skills and/or personal support services in either facility or community settings. Teaches appropriate work and social skills that will enable individuals to be successful. Assists with personal care as needed. Teaches appropriate work behavior and/or social skills to individuals including communication, grooming and use of transportation. Assigns and supervises the vocational work and non-vocational activities for individuals. Provides instruction on work skills and work behaviors. Provides guidance and assistance to individuals to maximize their vocational and non-vocational skills. Assists individuals with personal care needs, positioning, mobility, prescribed physical and occupational therapy activities, hygiene and first aid as necessary. Completes assessments of individuals in the areas of physical capacity, social adjustment and work performance. Documents and maintains records and reports including daily production records, payroll, work evaluation, attendance, individual programs, and other related records. Participates in staff and consumer meetings and conferences as necessary, and assists in developing individual service plan goals. Provides individuals with proper equipment and supplies. Inspects completed work for required quality standards. May serve as liaison with management and employees of cooperating business. May provide transportation for individuals as directed. Serves as backup supervisor in other Options divisions when necessary. Trains staff backups as substitutes. May assist student trainees. Responsible for ensuring that assigned work area is a safe environment. May administer medications. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent with one (1) to three (3) years of recent paid experience working with persons with disabilities and one (1) year certificate in Disabilities Services Careers, OR twenty (20) hours of college coursework in the areas of sociology, psychology, social work, education or rehabilitation and one (1) to three (3) years of paid experience within the last five (5) years working with persons with disabilities. Experience must be related to the target population and be approved as qualifying experience by the Options Director. Basic knowledge of services for people with disabilities. Ability to assist consumers in developing vocational, problem solving and self-advocacy skills. Ability to analyze needs and progress of consumers. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others. Ability to maintain records and prepare reports. Ability to work independently and coordinate the needs of the consumers with the needs of the business. Basic computer skills required. Skills in sign language may be helpful. Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR procedures desired. Valid State of Iowa Driver’s License required; Chauffeur Endorsement 3 may be required. May be required to obtain a Medication Manager Certificate. Background check required to ensure applicant is free of conviction or prior employment history of child or dependent adult abuse. Must pass a County physical examination which includes a drug test after offer of employment. Regular work attendance required.

8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (may vary) with paid lunch (35 hours/week)
SALARY: $17.80/hour
