Job Summary: the post holder is expected to be responsible for the effective day to day running events to ensure that targets are delivered. Drive forward new event initiatives to deliver income targets and open up new audiences.
Key tasks / duties
Events Management
- Work with the Interim Events Manager to ensure that all aspects of events are run efficiently and safely to ensure the best possible event experience.
- Recruit marshals and volunteers to ensure effective operational management on the day.
- Liaise with St John’s Ambulance, the police and local councils to ensure that all safety aspects of the events are covered at all times.
- Work alongside the Events Marketing Officer to plan and co-ordinate fundraising and promotional activities for each event to include posters and banners, sign up days and some media and PR.
- Manage the relationship with PR and marketing agencies to ensure effective and maximised use of press releases and PR.
- Produce effective registration packs and letters to maximise fundraising and sponsorship potential from participants.
- Seek corporate support and sponsorship for transport and event resources and materials where possible alongside the Corporate Fundraising Manager.
- Provide ongoing support to participants before and during the event.
- Plan and drive forward new initiatives for our client to ensure that the events portfolio stays fresh, dynamic and ahead of the market.
Financial
- Agree and monitor fundraising targets for Events alongside the Interim Events Manager.
- Produce financial updates and information for the Interim Events Manager as required.
- Ensure that fundraising expenditure is controlled in line with the approved annual budget.
General Responsibilities
- Input to Fundraising publications and newsletters.
- Develop relationships with key supporters, communities and organisations.
- Attend donor meetings and presentations where required.
- Attend events and activities during evenings and weekends where required to support the wider team.
Personal / professional
- Comply with all policies and procedures.
- Maintain required organisational standards for all mandatory training.
- Maintain and improve professional competence by attending training courses, study days and conferences as appropriate.
- Demonstrate ongoing personal and professional development in accordance with annual Individual Progress Review (IPR) system.
- Attend relevant meetings as appropriate.
Health and safety
- Understand the fire regulations and action to be taken in the event of fire.
- Report any accidents / incidents at work and record adverse incidents as appropriate.
- Understand that preventing healthcare acquired infections and infection control is the responsibility of all staff and that infection control policies and guidance must be followed at all times.
- Adhere to the Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults and the Safeguarding of Children Policies and Procedures.
- Take all measures to ensure the safety of staff, patients, volunteers, supporters, customers and visitors in accordance with the Health and Safety Policy.
Full, current, valid UK driving licence
