Employee Development Advisor - Southern California Gas Company - Los Angeles, CA





The Employee Development Advisor (EDA) is responsible for designing, developing, and executing a variety of learning and development initiatives across all levels of the organization. In addition, the individual will conduct analysis in partnership with HR, OE, and client stakeholders to identify individual, team and organization-wide performance gaps, research trends and best practices, and coach stakeholders toward recommended solutions.

Essential Responsibilities


  • Facilitate large and small group sessions with a focus on a variety of interpersonal and leadership development topics. Guide participants through experiential learning simulations and activities.

  • Work with a variety of stakeholders, business partners and other members of the OE team to analyze business challenges and make data-driven decisions, identify root cause issues, propose actionable ideas, and deliver effective solutions with minimal guidance and in short timelines. Evaluate the effectiveness of proposed and executed solutions.

  • Develop learning content to improve leadership competencies and behaviors that integrates adult learning and leadership development theory and puts it into practical application in the form of instructor-led sessions, blended and e-learning solutions.

  • Coordinate and execute all details associated with successfully launching projects and learning initiatives and programs, which may include participant communications and scheduling, materials preparation, food/lodging arrangements, room reservations and setup/cleanup, class registration, supplies orders, and audio/visual equipment checks.

  • In partnership with the L&D Manager, HR Business Partners, and Organizational Development Advisors lead or support organizational development requests, which may include organizational design, strategy development, new leader transitions, talent development, and change management initiatives.

  • Create and monitor work plans for assigned OE initiatives and programs to maintain the highest quality of deliverables while ensuring timely execution.

  • Manage multiple, high visibility projects simultaneously.

External Qualifications:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Three (3) years of experience in the field of organizational development, change management, learning development, talent management and/or similar human resources experience.

  • Experience designing, developing, and delivering large-scale, cross-departmental learning programs and/or strategic change initiatives.

  • Understanding of organizational and leadership development best practices and related theories with the demonstrated ability to translate it into practical application.

  • Strong facilitation skills and ability to effectively interact with all levels of leadership, adapting facilitation style and behavior based on objectives and audience, while effectively working through ambiguity and unstructured learning experiences.

  • Experience conducting needs analysis: collecting data in the forms of structured interviews, focus groups, surveys in conjunction with existing data to recommend potential solutions. Ability to autonomously manage work with little supervision while also effectively working with key stakeholders and members of a team.

  • Ability to work with confidential matters with the highest degree of integrity and discretion.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • MBA or MA in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Business Management, Adult Learning or related field.

  • Certification in specialized areas related to organizational development, change management, curriculum design and development, facilitation, and/or coaching (i.e. CPLP, ICF, Prosci, etc.)

  • Experience with psychometric assessments and instruments (i.e., Hogan, Lominger, MBTI, DiSC, 360-degree feedback tools, etc.)

  • Certification in interpersonal skills and/or leadership development programs (e.g. Franklin Covey, Ken Blanchard, TalentSmart, Leadership Challenge, etc.)

  • Membership in professional organizations (Society for Training and Development, Society for Industrial & Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development Network, International Society for Performance Improvement, etc.)

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite
