We are seeking a D.C.-based Staff Accountant who will be responsible for daily processing of invoices and payment requests, monthly preparation of invoices and advance requests, and general accounting tasks as necessary.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Assist with the review and maintenance of the general ledger
• Maintain and Reconcile Airfare accounts
• Process expense reports, maintain user and project set up in Concur and provide new hires with training in Concur
• Assist the Accounts Payable supervisor with the accounts payable process
• Review and register AP invoices
• Assist with internal audit requests and annual outside audit requirements.
• Record, document, and research as required. Respond to staff inquiries related to specific transactions
• Filing/maintaining payments to vendors, employees, and consultants
• Set up and maintenance of project, vendor, staff, and consultant master file in Agresso
• Prepare invoices for awards including cost reimbursable agreements, CPFF, and fixed price contracts
• Prepare and submit advance requests in compliance with donor agreements
• Assist in monitoring payment and collecting of outstanding invoices, including resolving any issues directly with payment office, and forecasting collections on invoices completed
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other related field; with a minimum of two years’ work experience in international business or a general accounting environment required. Candidates must have a demonstrated understanding of U.S. Government contracting accounting principles. Working knowledge of and experience with GAAP and nonprofit accounting preferred. The ability to work with minimal guidance, prioritize and multitask, and complete multiple tasks under tight deadlines is required. Fluency in English required. Strong French and/or Spanish language skills are a plus.
