This is your opportunity to join our world-class Dune Networking Team as a Software System Engineer for products – including cutting edge enterprise/SMB switches and physical layer devices. In this role you will be challenged with key responsibilities including:
• To be exposed to the cutting edge of technology in switching industry
• Act as technical liaison between Enterprise Networking Software Development Team/Factory Application Teams and the customer
• Work with different varieties of embedded OS’s like Linux, VxWorks and others.
• Identify and efficiently root-cause software bugs
• Write/suggest software fixes
• Suggest the appropriate use of APIs
• Conduct SDK overview presentations
• Work with Sales Account Manager to increase demand for Broadcom Enterprise Networking products pertaining to software applications
• Understand Ethernet protocol/switching/packet processing architecture thoroughly and answer customers’ questions regarding the features, providing timely and accurate information
• Understand the customer’s application in order to identify key technology and product features for next generation products
• Provide system solutions and assist customers in running switch development kit in their OS/platform environment to reduce their time-to-market
Typically requires a BSCS/EE degree and 9 years of experience, an MSCS/EE degree and 6 years of experience, or a PhD CS/EE and 3 years of experience, or equivalent.
Required skills:
• Ability to study and self-learn complicated cutting edge technology systems
• Ability to understand highly complicated networking system.
• Previous experience in switching company with hands-on responsibilities.
• Proven experience in at least one networking protocol
• Proven experience in C code development and debugging
• Previous experience with Linux embedded OS
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong software skills, including in embedded software design and development
• Team player and independent self-starter, with ability to adapt to rapidly changing market requirements
Desired skills
• Previous experience with any others embedded OS
• Previous experience with network test equipment (IXIA, Spirent)
• Experience in script languages – Perl, TCL, Bash
• Strong prioritization skills
• Ability to build strong relationships with customers
• Demonstrated success calling on decision makers within target account base
