Under the supervision and direction of a licensed nurse, prepares, administers and records select oral, nasal, transdermal, rectal, inhalant and ophthalmic scheduled medications to residents of LindenGrove. Trained to measure and record blood pressure and radial pulse.
Shifts Available : Full Time/Days
Job Responsibilities and Duties :
1. Administers scheduled medications prescribed for routine administration according to established LindenGrove Medication Administration Policies and Procedures.
2. Complies with the Resident Bill of Rights.
3. Reports to nurse when coming on duty and going off duty. Obtains assignment and specific directions from Nurse/RN Supervisor.
4. Reports to nurse any physical and emotional change in resident status, needs, unsafe conditions and maintenance problems immediately.
5. Takes and records blood pressure and pulse as indicated by scheduled blood pressures/pulses and in conjunction with prescribed medication therapy. Reports to nurse and changes from prior readings.
6. Participates and/or attends as required all inservices provided for employees as appropriate to the job classification.
7. Works effectively and cooperatively as a team member with nursing staff.
8. This position involves being assigned to any nursing unit.
9. Follows all LindenGrove Policies and Procedures.
10. Must be able to function as a Nursing Assistant (see Nursing Assistant Job Description).
11. Knowledgeable of medication actions, medication effects on body systems and side effects, especially in relation to the geriatric resident.
Job Standards :
Has successfully completed the State of Wisconsin Approved Medication Assistant Training Program , having worked a minimum of 1500 hours in the past 2 years as a Nursing Assistant.
Has demonstrated competency in measuring and recording blood pressure and radial pulse.
Is a Nursing Assistant on the Registry in Wisconsin in good standing.
Follows all safety, security, infection control (including Universal Precautions) and hazardous materials policies and procedures. Performs all tasks to assure resident and personal safety and the protection of LindenGrove’s property.
