Knowledge
OSHA regulations, MSDS, electrical safety related work practices; electrical circuits, electronics, algebra, and trigonometry; utility system practices and utility business practices; substation and power plant operations, maintenance, construction, and safety practices; safe operation of hand and power tools used in the electrical trades; AC and DC circuit theory, wiring diagrams, control schematics, and other drawings such as electrical, mechanical, and structural details; batteries, protection equipment, power transformers, load tap changers, and potential and current transformers; power circuit breakers, metal-clad switchgear, circuit switchers, disconnect and air break switches, synchronous condensers, series and shunt capacitors, AC & DC controls; test equipment and testing methods, and troubleshooting techniques. Performance Management System, Corporate policies, CARES Safety Program; PC use and basic software.
Skills
Interpersonal communication strong verbal and written communication; problem identification, problem solving, troubleshooting, and operating test equipment; basic use of personal computers using software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, databases, e-mail, and PASSPORT®; organization and time management.
Abilities

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Apprentices must be physically able to perform all essential job functions without posing a direct threat of harm to self, others, or property. Apprentices must also be at least 18 years of age and must meet the following qualifications:
Education
High school diploma or GED. Completion of vocational/technical training in electronics or control systems wiring, military training in either of the aforementioned areas, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, or an equivalent combination of appropriate education and experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Experience
Two years documented, recent experience in an electrical, control wiring, or related field.
Licenses and Certifications
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position. Valid DOT medical card or the ability to obtain one prior to hire.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the ability to occasionally bend, stoop squat, crouch, climb ladders, twist, kneel, balance and reach, and rarely crawl. Occasionally lift above-shoulder items weighing up to 50 lbs, and waist-high and knee-high items weighing up to 75 lbs; occasionally push or pull items using force of up to 50 lbs. and rarely up to 125 lbs; occasionally carry with one hand items weighing up to 50 lbs or two hands items weighing up to 75 lbs. Occasionally use fine and gross hand manipulation when working with tools or equipment, and occasionally use foot controls when driving. Job sometimes requires working outdoors in adverse weather conditions or in confined spaces. Applicant must perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat of harm to self, others, or property. Job placement is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment, post-offer Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) medical exam.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS/INFORMATION
Immediately enroll in the Stations Technician Apprenticeship Program
Complete required Company training (including safety) within 60 days, and as scheduled thereafter.
Extensive travel across Idaho Power service area, often working back-to-back weeks (overnight stays of 8–10 days).
Must live within 30 miles of the Twin Falls Operations Center
