Responsibilities
This person will execute, maintain, and develop tests on Broadcom’s world class lineup of WiFi combo modules targeted at the cellular and tablet markets. Taking responsibility the testing on one or more chips or test areas you will be responsible for system level RF DVT execution from initial chip bringup through to mass production. With our team you will be responsible for executing the tests, data analysis, investigating and debugging issues, resolving all issues related to test hardware, software and infrastructure. This role also includes creating and adhering to schedules, forecasting station and personal requirements, program updates to design teams and management.
Our groups test coverage includes the 802.11 physical and RF parameters, coexistance testing with other wireless blocks on the chip, and current consumption.
We work very closely with the systems team on site to get involved early in the product bring up stages and help drive them from bringup through to production, and ultimately you will see these products shipping in high volume in your favorite consumer electronics devices.
As part of this role you will have the opportunity to interact with both the systems and marketing teams to define test plans. You may also be responsible for overseeing the work of others using the test systems you develop and taking their feedback to improve test efficiency. This person will also work with other test development teams within Broadcom to identify opportunities to reuse hardware and software blocks as well as correlate tests results.
Requirements
To succeed in this role the candidate should have a BSEE with 7-10 years experience, or MSEE with 5 years experience. This must include at least three years of wireless test experience at the PHY or MAC level.
The candidate must be familiar with wireless communication system transmit and receive parameters. You should be able to explain at the block level the operation of a wireless tx and rx chain, including the causes of common wireless radio impairments.
It will be helpful to have had experience writing test software with a text based programming language (preferably Python) to control general test equipment (Power meters, switches, attenuators), one-box-testers (ex. litepoint or CMU’s), and/or WiFi radios.
It is expected that this person will be able to understand higher level plans and develop goals/milestones to achieve these while working independently and clearly documenting the work completed. This person will interact with many other teams as we work to drive defects to zero. As such a proactive person with strong communications skills is desired.
