The Women"s Refugee Commission, Inc. (WRC) is a research and advocacy organization that monitors the care and protection of refugee women and children. Our mission is to improve the lives and protect the rights of women, children and youth displaced by conflict and crisis. We research their needs, identify solutions and advocate for programs and policies to strengthen their resilience and drive change in humanitarian practice.
The Liv Ullmann Fellowship Program, named after and established with the support of WRC’s co-founder and honorary chair, is an excellent way to gain work experience and support the WRC’s work with displaced women, children and youth. The Liv Ullmann Fellowship Program is designed to give people who are interested in a career in international relief and development an opportunity to increase their work experience and gain exposure to our programs and organizational systems. The program is intended to provide training that will prepare the next generation of talented professionals for careers in the humanitarian sector with a specific emphasis on international relief and development. Professional development activities include regular attendance at various staff presentations and mentoring by senior staff who are leaders in their field. Work will include research as well as outreach work.
The program is a 9-12-month full-time fellowship for talented graduate students. Fellowships come with a $25,000 stipend and require a commitment of nine months to one-year. Benefits will be provided. Fellows will be based at WRC’s office in New York. Fellows will be assigned according to their educational background, previous work experience and area of interest. Candidates ideally will have a graduate degree in one of the following: international relations, public health, gender studies, policy planning or nonprofit fundraising.
