United States of America: Community Practice Coordinator

PSI seeks candidates for the position of Community of Practice Coordinator to support the coordination and management of a Micronutrient Powders (MNP) social marketing community of practice. PSI, in partnership with UNICEF, is currently implementing pilot MNP social marketing programs in Madagascar and setting up program in Laos, Mozambique and Somaliland. These learning projects present an opportunity to generate and capture key lessons of the role of social marketing in advancing the cause of preventing and treating micronutrient deficiencies. To achieve this PSI, in partnership with UNICEF, is setting up an online forum where implementing partners and stakeholders will share ideas, experiences and support each other. The online forum in addition to the program implementation in each country constitutes the community of practice.

The position requires flexibility and willingness to assume varied duties and projects and offers an opportunity to assist PSI staff on a variety of projects in Nutrition. This is a part-time temporary position (16 - 24 hours per week) and is open to a 6 month assignment with the option to renew based on performance. Based in Washington, D.C., the Community of Practice Coordinator will report to the Nutrition Technical Advisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage the online discussion forum by ensuring online posts (discussions, questions, and comments) receive the appropriate timely action;Publicize and market the online forum in order to attractinterest from countries. This will include identifying potential users and reaching them via email announcements, web links and other methods.Work with identified online experts and ensure they are aware of online posts and take appropriate and timely action;Facilitate and increase usage of the online discussion forums. Support the community by working with knowledge management expert;Organize a quarterly conference call by working with project lead and social marketing expert; Write and communicate the meeting reports. Part of this work will include sending the agenda ahead of time, and confirming attendance;Organize a “learning” workshop and assist in the report write up and dissemination;Provide a monthly progress report to the project lead highlighting successes and challenges;Supporting technical advisors in the identification and review of relevant field resources in key subject areas in home fortification projects;Supporting the updating and improvement of knowledge management resources;Responding to internal and external requests for information;Fulfilling additional programmatic and administrative functions as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor or Master’s degree candidate;Professional international work experience preferredPrevious experience in supporting knowledge sharing activities for technical experts and a dynamic implementing team working in different geographic locationsBackground in managing an online community desirable. Experience in public health is requiredExcellent writing, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills and attention to detailDemonstrated ability to perform a variety of tasks on short notice within designated deadlinesRequired computer skills: Word, PowerPoint, ExcelNative-level English with ability to work in French and/or Spanish desired
