Admissions Representative job - United Memorial Medical Center - Batavia, NY


Fulltime and Per Diem positions open in the Admissions Department. Become the first contact with patients as they maneuver their way through our healthcare systems. Help them complete the necessary paperwork and provide guidance.


Efficiently pre-registers and registers inpatients and outpatients following established procedures. Ensures that accurate patient information is collected and that patients are made aware of hospital policies and procedures.


Verifies insurance eligibility. Participants in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as, initiatives. Represents UMMC in a positive, professional manner, with a commitment to customer service.


Greets patients and their family members, coworkers and customers to hospital emergency services by phone contact and/or face-to-face contact presenting a professional, hospitable and caring attitude.


Registers and interviews patients, assessing patient’s ability to provide factual and accurate information. Collects and screens required patient information including presenting complaint, admission diagnosis and insurance data following department guidelines and possible non-coverage.


Requirements: High school diploma or GED. Knowledge of medical terminology, typing/computer experience preferred.


Familiarity with ICD 9 coding and insurances preferred. Ability to type 35 wpm and computer experience helpful. Excellent proven customer service/public relations skills required. Ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of staff and the public within the organization and community. Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job specific competencies and skill verification tools required.
