CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE 2
MVD/ Customer Service

Position Summary: The incumbent will provide excellent customer service to Commercial Driver License (CDL) customers, be accurate with transactions, efficient with the computer screen records and codes, and keep all office operations moving smoothly in a very timely manner. The employee is expected to become an expert in CDL transactions and requirements dealing with customers on a daily basis in a customer service environment working at a customer service window with a daily average of 50 customers. Some travel is required to other field offices to assist CDL Examiners.
This position will perform various technical tasks in the area of CDL issuance, look at driver license records and determine if the customer is able to get a Commercial Instruction Permit, CDL or Driver License. Will check all documents needed for licensing requirements for both issuance and reinstatements. Will operate the Q-Test equipment to issue all tests for CDL customers, will operate the camera and printer equipment for issuance of all licensing credentials. Will prepare daily cash drawer for deposit. Assist with daily, weekly and monthly reports when needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
· Commercial Driver License and regular Driver License classes, endorsements and documentation requirements including Legal Presence
· Vision testing procedures and the equipment used. Knowledge of the automated Q-Test system for written testing and grading of all tests given.
· Arizona Revised Statutes Title-28,Arizona Administrative Code (Rules),CDL Policy and Procedures and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations CFR Title-49 as they apply to the commercial motoring public.
Skills in:
· Operating multiple computer programs and processes.
· Electronic cash register and in handling cash receipts; basic math.
· oral and written communication skills; problem resolution skills and excellent customer service skills.
Ability to:
· Administer the Class D road test when needed for re-examination.
· Work with one to two customers at a time depending on the office situation (must be able to multi-task).
· Perform data research and retrieval and resolve problems.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
· A high degree of Driver License transactions and reinstatements of records with customers.
· A high degree of PC terminal experience reading Driver License records and knowing what to do to resolve a problem.
· Working Driver License transactions and reinstatements at least 3 years.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
· This position requires possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License.
Candidates for this position must complete page 7 and sign the Driver Form on page 8 of the State of Arizona Application for Employment at the time of interview, which will allow ADOT to obtain the candidate’s motor vehicle record (MVR). The most recent 39-month period shown on the MVR will be reviewed in accordance with A.A.C. R2-10-207.12 (H) and (I). The review must show an acceptable driving record prior to any offer of employment being made by ADOT. Employment is contingent upon an acceptable MVR.
· Candidates for this position will also be subject to a comprehensive background check upon hire.
RETIREMENT: This position participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS)*.
*ASRS enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment, if not already an ASRS member at the time of hire.
