To help support this growth we are looking for an experienced director of software engineering.
In this role, you will manage the WLAN Software roadmap, team and execution across a variety projects and devices.
The job responsibilities include:
- Direct people management of subordinate managers and software engineers working on embedded firmware for mobile and non-mobile devices, which covers embedded firmware, host operating system device drivers, and some engineering tools.
- Support customers and personally lead efforts to work through issues or concerns.
- Oversee management of all software roadmaps and software releases for this segment.
- Direct customer support and interaction with key customers.
- Support and participate in chip tape-out, chip bring-up, board bring-up and other firmware/hardware workflows for WLAN devices targeting your segment.
- Work with test teams to ensure test procedures are adequate, review results, drive testing and bug fixing.
- Dotted line management of remote software teams contributing to the same product category.
- Personally negotiate and help architect new features.
- Review code. Enforce compliance with all software engineering standards. Identify deficiencies in the software engineering processes and drive improvement. Ensure new features have adequate documentation.
- Own the software quality and content. Drive test teams and ensure their test plans and execution plans are adequate for expectations. Ensure adequate communication and collaboration between test and your development team.

Skills and Requirements:
MSCS or PhD or equivalent engineering degree plus a minimum of 15+ years of firmware development, software algorithms development, operating systems internals, device drivers, networking protocols and device support, with at least 10+ years direct functional and people management.
Successful candidate need to have the following skills and qualifications:
- Must have strong technical skills, specifically including 12 years firmware development in C/C++
- At least 10 years direct people management and customer support, including at least 5 years in 2nd level management
- 10 years device drivers, RTOS or kernel development
- At least 5 years (10 preferred) developing embedded software for TCP/IP (Ethernet or similar) networking devices. Wireless is a plus! Must be core firmware or drivers with a network data path. Network management software is not a satisfactory substitute.
- At least 3 years working at a low level with Ethernet devices.
- At least 2 years each with USB, SDIO or SPI bus interfaces, PCIe bus interfaces.
- Should have managed a geographically distributed organization.
